On the top left hand corner of the screen there is a little icon of two boxes and a circle. The manual says it is GPRS. What the hell is it? It just poped up one day...now it is bothering the hell out of me

GPRS-General Packet Radio Service.
A packet-linked technology that enables high-speed wireless Internet and other data communications over a GSM network, it's considered an efficient use of limited bandwidth and it's used for sending and receiving small bursts of data.

I have a v551 and I used to have that symbol...but all the sudden it turned into a letter "E" with two lines under it. What is this?

Thanks. So is EDGE faster than GPRS? Are there any other differences between them? Do all Cingular phones use EDGE?
Sorry I ask so many questions. If it's easier for you to give me a link, please do so.
Thanks,

yes EDGE which stands for Enhanced Data for Global Evolution, is an upgrade for GSM/GPRS networks that triples data speeds over standard GPRS.
The newer phones that are being released use Edge technology, surprisingly the Razr does not have the Edge capability but the v551 does as well as enabled video capture...
