my vzw contracts ends in the beginning of oct and i am going to switch to cingular.
I use my phone basically for sending txts, calling, taking pics, and making the odd appointment (ex: dentist at 4 pm) nothing really to the point where i would need a smart phone.
I like the razr becuase it is thin and has the screen oustide but i have heard a lot of bad things about the OS.
so is the razr right for me??

If you want a very thin phone then I'd say the razr is right for you, but if you don't mind having a slightly thicker phone I'd suggest the S710a. It has everything the razr does, but it's got a better screen, and a removable memory card.

it has an awesome design but if ur looking for features just go with a motorola v330 because the razr and the v330 are basically alike..(except the razr has a better design and costs more)

That's not too bad. That's without signing a two year contract, right?

the price of 200 for the razr is when you sign the two year agreement, i'm not sure how much it is when you dont, prolly about 400+

If you shop around you can get the Razr for free if you don't mind sending in rebates.

reason behind this is, the actual service provider that the company goes will throw them a 'chargeback' if the customer does that keep their service for atleast 6 months.
lengthy process, but hey, you get your money back! just dont forget to mail it out after 6 months

Not sure if you can get the Razr for "free" through rebates, but there are alot rebates on it that brings the price right down from the $199 to next to nothing, with a commitment to a phone plan. Otherwise you can get the phone without any commitment to a phone plan but pay the premium. I don't have the phone, but I have used it before and it's great. The design is everything.. great screen and sound. There is something about the weight of the phone that is just perfect. It just feels good.

I just got a razr phone this week. mail in rebate + 2 year contract, I will get this phone free. I just paid $130 up front and get that back here in few months. I love this phone. I miss my treo, but this phone is good enough for me. Look around, there are free deals out there.
