Hey everyone
I've had cingular for a while now but never really paid any attention to my bill. Is it normal to have to pay $90 for the $60 family 500 nationwide plan? And the extra $30 is just random fees not usage charges.
Thanks for your help

Yea we have some type of family plan with 3 people on it, but the price is $50 and $10 each additional line so I figured about $70, but its more like $90

How many lines do you have?
Are there any features such as roadside assistance, insurance, etc?
Are there any directbill charges?
Taxes are pretty steep on cell phones - any carrier... there's 3% federal tax, X% state tax, and anywhere from 1.60-3.00 in misc govt charges (911 monthly, fcc regulatory, etc... varies bc some are percentages of monthly bill) per phone, per month.
If you could find the charges on the bill and tell me what they say they are for, I can explain them to you and/or tell you how to eliminate excess charges. On a $60 plan in Indiana w/ 2 phones, it is normal to have a $68-71 bill (state tax is 6%). A $60 plan with insurance on both lines = $77-79. Free trial of roadside assistance that was never canceled & is now being applied to bill = $84-86...
So, no it is not normal. You need to read your bill carefully, then tell me where the extra $20 is coming from.... maybe I can help....

Any other fees will be for things you authorized as a monthly charge, and things you used as a pay-per use charge. My bill is the same every month. The only extra charges are for monthly features I added to my monthly bill.... never had any surprises. Keep in mind pay-per use things like directory assistance (OUCH!), txt messaging, internet, ringtones, etc... add up bigtime.

Thanks SJ. I hope there's no reason to panic yet, I just got ported over last weekend and haven't received a bill yet. My first bill is only supposed to have a week on it, so we'll see if all wireless companies are taxed equally.
I was paying $80 on a $40 Sprint service plan with 1 extra line. I never went anywhere near full usage. No 411s, internet, message, insurance or anything. That was $20 of taxes and fees. A full 33 1/3%.
What crap!!!
