ok, i have read this thread before but didn't think i had much to contribute. now that i've read it again, and some of the more recent posts, let me put in my 2 cents.

As far as $3.99 for lockline, that's good because sprint charges me $6 and i haven't heard of any cell provider offering insurance for less than $3.99.

cingular is GSM and verizon is CDMA. If you are going to be in a metro area most of the time, you might want to consider GSM service, and Ringgold is between Atlanta and Chattanooga, so i think you probably would be fine with any provider you choose unless you plan to travel out of that area. if you think you will be spending part of your time in a rural area, then you probably want CDMA coverage. CDMA providers generally seem to have better coverage in rural areas when compared to GSM.

i can't speak much for north georgia, except that my friend in Ellijay loves her cingular service. cingular and verizon both have somewhat spotty coverage in south georgia, especially as you get further west toward alabama. at least in south georgia, alltel is the dominant provider. my sprint phone gets good service across south georgia because when i leave sprint's service area about halfway between waycross and tifton, i go into alltel's area and sprint roams through alltel or verizon, depending on who they get a better signal from at the time. When I get close to Tifton, I go back to Sprint service, it's just that hwy 158 between waycross and tifton is about as desolate and rural as georgia gets.

so, that's my two cents, just a fly on the wall.
