Well Cingular corporate headquarters is in Atlanta, GA and their coverage is good in Tennessee at least from the maps that I have seen. I have relocated alot of people from Tennessee who said that it worked fine where they lived. You will have good service in most major cities throughout the country on Cingular. Verizon is the biggest competitor of Cingular's and therefore the plans are almost identical. As with Verizon and any mobile carrier you are going to hear of horror stories about customer service and this is something that Cingular is spending alot of time and money on. Now I am a sales manager for an agent of Cingular so I may be a little biased but I think as far as signal strength goes you should be fine because I think that Cingular is only rivaled by Verizon. Hope this helps let me know if you have specifics that you want answered.

well thats great if you work for them because id like to hear about it, and I definitely belive that its the rival of verizon! Um, verizon gets you really easily if you drop it in the pool! I have paid 5.99 a month to be able to recieve a new phone if this one sqrews up on me and they still wanna make me pay $50 to get it replaced! Im so mad right now, and am definitely thinking about changing to Cingular. I'll be living in North GA when my contract is up, is the reception good there too? Thanks ANY advice about Cingular will help!

yeah unfortunately Cingular charges 3.99 for regular lockline insurance and if you needed to file a claim they charge $50 also. Now not to try and sell you on the insurance because it depends on the phone you got as to if I would recommend the insurance. See if you were getting the razr and you didn't insure it and something happened to it we would sell you another one at $300 or more so 50 vs 300 I have to choose 50. Enough of that though if you wanted to tell me exactly what part of northern GA you are going to be living I would be more than happy to figure out what the coverage is like. By the way lockline is the company that does Cingular's and T-mobiles insurance I don't think I clarified that before.

Uhh, cingular sucks in my opinion. I have it right now, and while true they have good customer service, they need it. Their service is so crappy they must have irate people calling constantly. If the Verizon service is great, why do you need good customer service?

maybe if people who called CS would give them more respect they would be a little nicer. if someone came into your work blaming everything wrong on you personally you would get an attitude too. i work for a indirect Verizon store and i call CS about 5-10 times a day and never have any of the problems some people talk about.

insurance also has nothing to do with verizon, it's almost like when you buy a car do you buy insurance from the dealer? no you get it from somewhere else. we just tell you where to get it.
what did CS get mad at you about?

let's get back on topic here...
customer service is questionable with any company. i personally have had good luck with cingular's customer service, but others may not have. the real issue to discuss is the reception and service the company will provide. a happy customer service rep will not be able to soothe your disappointment with your lack of service.
Cingular Coverage
i like cingular's coverage, but i would be happier if their rural coverage was a little better. punch in your zip/zips of where you frequent to check the coverage available.
remember, cingular is gsm. they will only roam to t-mobile and any other gsm carrier (which is limited as of today). cdma carriers such as verizon, etc.. will not permit cingular to roam.
keep all of this in mind when you select a service.
good luck

Just two things to think about before running to verizon the "buy it now" (yeah only thier ringtones and wallpapers) company and sprint I'll cut your service for 1cent companyLast edited by drjekel_mrhyde; 01-14-2006 at 11:26 AM.
