Okay here's the deal. I switched from Sprint to Cingular in late October. I bought a black RAZR and also bought the 4.99 a month with Lockline. 2 months later RAZR got soaked in water...I sent my affadavit in and they declined to send me a new one...because of negligence.. i spoke with the manager but nothing.. I decided to buy a new phone so I bought a Nokia 6102 flip phone for 270!!!! After telling my uncle who's also with cingular how much I spent he told me to return it and buy a prepaid phone and put my sim card in one of those...I'de be saving bout 200$ with that...Is this true? Are the prepaid phones the same phones as the regular ones? Any pros/cons about doing this? Or should I stick to my new phone.

Last I checked we did not offer our insurance on the RAZR phones (yes I work for Cingular). As for buying a GoPhone you would pay the same amount for the equipment unless you activated a GoPhone plan. In which case you would need a new SIM card. Stick with what you have since that phone is now covered by insurance. I would also advise going back to the retail location where you got the RAZR and asking them about the insurance situation. If you want to discuss this privately send me a message and I might be able to look into a few things for you.

Well the 6102 is a good phone but for 270 I wouldn't buy that phone. Now as far as the insurance goes which number did you call for lockline insurance. If you were told to call 1800 801 1101 then you were given the wrong number. In October we were able to put insurance on the razr's though so you should have been covered. I only wonder why they gave you an affadavit to fill out though if you truly did call lockline. Have you ever dropped your phone in water before. Sometimes if you have a similar accident happen to you more than once I have heard of them sending those out, but if you could actually send them a phone back like the one you dropped in water then I don't understand why you were sent the affadavit to begin with. ( I am a sales manager also by the way)

The Go Phone would cost the same amount unless it was to be activated? Are you sure, because they sell them at places such as K-Mart and Wal-Mart and you can buy them for about $50-$80.

At our store we sell the Nokia 6102 for $229.99 at full price. Also a prepaid phone will work as long as its a Cingular GSM phone, or if it is a unlocked phone.

I'm from Texas and what's funny is that I'm a new cingular customer. I just joined in late OCT and the RAZR was my first phone with them. Lockline was so rude! I think a cingular representative fooled me again. When I went to Radio Shack she told me the 6102 was very popular and how many people have came looking for that phone... Now I'm thinking what if she had many of those in the back bc it was the least purchased phone? Well, I learned my lesson. I shoulda just told Lockline I lost the phone! I guess thats what I get for being honest.
