7 for me. no cell provider is perfect. i'd go higher, but their rural coverage is sub-par, and my phone doesn't work by my parents. i'd go 8 or 9 if the rural coverage expanded.

Cingular has the largest network with Cingular and ATT towers combined...

I went for a 7.
I was orginally with AT&T and just got switched over to Cingular because of the merge. I'm fairly satisfied with my experiences with them. When I first got with them (which has been years ago!) I lived in a small town and got pretty decent service for being on the edge of their coverage area. I later moved to a bigger city and my service was even better.
It kinda sucks now because I live in the middle of the "no coverage area" for all cell companies around here. This town is alot bigger than the one I grew up in, but we're just out of range for everyone.
Cingular... you pop a few towers up out here and I'll look into to giving you a nine!
Okay I'm feeling desperate... gimme some coverage out here and I'll give you a 10 for sure! lolGet more out of your gadgets --> http://www.gadgethacks.com

I think that phone service has a lot more to do with it than Customer Service. I'd rather have a phone that works wherever I go that is coupled with a not-so-great customer service department versus a great customer service department with patchy service. I live in Pittsburgh (GO STEELERS!...sorry, I couldn't resist) and it is VERY hilly here for those of you who haven't been here. Cingular and Verizon both have acceptable service (Verizon's can be better at times because they have the benefit of still being able to carry a call on the analog spectrum which transmits a stronger signal). Plus with Cingular, you have the availibity of a nearly GLOBAL GSM network. I've used my phone in Italy and it works just fine. If someone is looking to choose a carrier, take advantage of the 15 or 30 day trial periods and don't hesitate to return your phone if you service is bad.

you're right it has to be a lot more than customer service. but i've never had any real complaints except for a couple of times i've always been happy with the reception. and any isssues i've ever had seemed to be resolved in a timely and coureteous manner. it was just a quixk response to the poll. but in all honesty i've been a satisfied customer

btw, how are you getting roaming charges when they have roaming agreements with the only other major gsm carrier, t-mobile?
