I got a phone number from Houston residence. I thought it was someone I knew (because I have family up there). But, I looked at something they sent, and it was porno! Gross!

Im guessing someone mighta given that person the wrong number on purpose or something. If the guy continues to call, what should I do?

(I dont answer any of the calls, though I have messaged him saying I dont know him and for him to stop calling.)

    help

I am a cingular rep, there is no way to stop 1 specific person from calling you or sending you things. Basically your only choice is to change your # if it gets that bad and there will be $36 # change charge.

    Howdy Stormigirl,

If it is for sure the same phone number calling, you can block that one number from making phone calls to you. I know that customer service can waive the fee (at least once), for changing your number if it's due to harrasing phone calls, especially if the phone calls and the text messages are coming from the same number(s), but you'll have to ask.

Don't think there is much you can do to block the text messages, other than to change your number or have text messaging turned off on your account, but that stops all text messages from going out or coming in.

    he is wrong

I work for cingular 10 hours a day for 4 days a week for 3 years. In all my time there out of thousands of requests for # changes, have I ever seen # change fee's been waived about 5 times.

Cingular policies state that at no point even when receiving harrassing phone calls should the # change charge be waived.

If esclated to managemnt, then the supervisor may waive the fee but ti is their decision at that point.

As bear stated you can have text messaging blocked to prevent these messages from coming to your phone , but all messages will be blocked from coming in or out of your phone. The only messaging that will work will be the * services to check minutres, balance and pay your bill

I may be wrong, but I know several people that have had the fee waived. So ask if you feel it's needed when/if the time comes. In every case of my friends and one family member having their numbers changed, they were told that this was a one time thing, if they continued to get harassing calls in the future, even if from the same numbers, they would have to pay to have the numbers changed. The reason stated to my sister, was that if the harrassing calls were from the same numbers as before, then someone that she has given the new number(s) to, is passing along the new number to the person or persons she'd rather not have the number given to. Don't think this would would be the case in the OP, situation, since the person is unknown. (at least as far as she knows)

And as you said, as far as you know in the time you have worked in CS, the fee has been waived about 5 times, and that's just the five times that you know of, which says to me, under certain times the request is waived for whatever reasons, but it's still done.

As that old saying goes... "Never hurts to ask".

But lucky777*** it's nice to have an extra rep or two on the forum to ask questions of, and that can give advice.
