already got a cingular 2 yr contract that started back in august of 05, and my razr just broke on me, the hinges snapped from the body so i cant even replace it with a new hinge, it actually cracked the metal from the body so no dice. whats the cheapest cingular phone i will be able to buy, im looking on ebay and stuff, but i cant get new service cause i still got my contract so its phone only, i just need something dirt cheap for the moment to receive and make calls, nothing fancy.

Well, have you look at the Buy/Sell/Trade forum on here to see if anyone is selling a used phone reasonably priced? I had a Motorola V220 that I just sold to a friend today whose phone was stolen.

If you want to replace the phone just put the old RAZR SIM in the new phone and it will work great. You can get a cheap phone off ebay for less then $20 shipped. Ebay allows you to narrow the search to any Cingular compatable phone. Any cingular "branded" or unlocked GSM phone will work. Make sure the phone operates on both 850 and 1900 GSM bands for the most coverage. Buy from someone with lots of good feedback and you will be fine. If you get a non-cingular phone configure it for MMS, SMS, and Data. https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clie...guredevice.asp
Another option for a cheap phone is to buy a refurbished prepaid GoPhone from Cingular. They start at $30. http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cel...goryId=prepaid
Just buy it as a PAYG plan. Don't activate it, and put the old SIM in it. You can even sell the unactivated SIM on ebay and make some of your money back.
Also if you know anyone with an unlocked or Cingular GSM phone they aren't using that would work as well. If you can only find a locked GSM phone and it is a Nokia, they are unlocked easily and free if you know where to look. Doing a search will give you that info, or PM me.
