My cell phone was recently stolen. I had a nokia 6102, which I didn't like all that much. I just have a few questions:

    1) My Sim Card/Smart Chip was stolen along with my phone, if I get a new sim card, can I just buy a phone off Ebay, and pop the new card in to activate it? I really don't want to get the same phone.

    2) Any suggestions on which phone to buy? I want something with nice features, and some style..I was looking at a Razr, but am just not sure.

    3) What exactly are the details on buying an unlocked phone? Am I able to use ANY phone if it is unlocked, even if it is normally not a Cingular supported phone?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

As long as the phone is GSM, Unlocked or you get it unlocked and supports 850/1900mhz it should work fine. You are only held back buy your personal budget, and the bottom line of course is what you are willing to spend for a phone, new or used. The main problem with buying a "used" phone is you can't get it insured by the carrier (but that's not a problem if you haev home owners or your renters insurance will cover it), and if it stops working 4 days after you get it, you have a dead phone and a contract (unless you are month to month).

Best to make a list of what you must have (featurewise) and what you would like, then decide on how much you are willing to spend FIRST, then go from there. If all you are willing to spend on a phone is $100, that's going to narrow the field down quite a bit. Only you know what "Nice features" means to you. You can always "borrow" a friends phone for a day or so and see if you like it enough to buy one.

Pretty much any 850/1900 GSM phone (must have 850 Mhz for Cingular), but 1900 allows you to roam on some GSM 1900 towers fromother carriers and the Cingular 1900 that are still around. And does not have to be sold or supported by Cingular, as long as it's able to work on the GSM network. Some settings may have to be entered to allow some features/services to work, like Internet browsing and text messagings.

Yeah..I was looking at getting a brand new phone off ebay from a dealer, not a used phone. I already have a plan/contract and everything..thats why i'm just making sure I can get a different phone.

And as for a price range..anywhere below 300.
