My old phone literally bit the dust, and I was wondering if cingular made any phones that would withstand dust, dirt, water, drops, etc?

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
i peronally think cingular has some pretty weak phones. if you are looking for strong phones that withstand a lot, sprint offers those

I will say that the Motorola and Nokia can hold up fairly well. I used to own them.
Another thing you can do is buy a case for it. The case helps keep the phone together if you accidently drop it.

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
Not to many phones will hold up to a good drop 3 ft + except the nextel work phones but since the meger with sprint the service has gotten so bad the ptt phones from cingular are looking good, as far as water anything short of a zip lock bag will not protect ANY phone unless their making water proof phones sometime soon I'd just be careful around large bodies of water or try to avoid talking while using the bathroom, as for sturdy phones through cingular the nokias are good (I would recommend the 6030) or the Sony ericson walkman phone (not very pretty but loaded with extras)

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
My last phone was a Motorola V220 and I survived pretty well. I droped it many times and it got washed once and it still worked, until it fell open face down in the sand and it quit working. I was really liking it until one fall in the sand made it quit working, I just thought that it should withstand more than that.

I've dropped my nokia 6030 4 times already, the last time I kicked it hoping to avoid a direct fall to concrete WRONG, skipped it across a mud puddle picked it up wiped it off good as new minus a few scratches. It didn't fall right in the puddle but it splashed pretty good (don't tell cingular)

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
Thanks for the info.
As a side note what happend to the good old phones. I remember that my dad droped his Nokia many many times, even a couple of 10 or so foot drops onto cement, and it even got lost in our orchard for a day and all he ever did was take off the face plate and blow it out a few times and spraded tuner cleaner on the charger connections when they were acting up.

My RAZR has enough frequent flier miles to take a trip! I always am dropping that thing! it has some nicks and bruises but it works fine! Ima ctually impressed how many tmes ive dropped it and it still keeps working. I just got a nice leather case for it so I think I can drop it a few more times before it actually will die lol

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
My recommendation for durability in a cell phone would definite be Sprint/Nextel. Have you not seen the commercial with the guy who beat the other guy up with the cell phone? Now that is what I call durable! LOL.

Re: Does Cingular Have any tough Cell Phones
Nokia's are pretty sturdy...my old 6620 & 6230 were dropped numerous times and still kept ticking.
But outside of Nextel phones, the one I've seen that are rugged is the Siemens M65 and Nokia's 5100 & 5140. I'd go for the Nokia 5140 because it supports 850Mhz.
