I'm looking the most at the LG CU500, Samsung D807, and the Motorola SLVR L7, but I am open to other options. The only requirment I have is that the phone has good reception and MP3 capabilities. I do like the D807 a lot, but I would probably rather have the clamshel CU500. What is this whole 3G network thing? The only add-on besides my monthly minutes that I purchase is unlimited text messaging, so the cingular video or whatever it has doesn't do much good for me. From what I read I get the feeling that the 3G thing is for video and all that stuff, but can it be used as a network for better reception?

Anyways...if you were to rank the 3 phones what would you rank them? Or is there one I am missing that would be better than them all. I was leaning towards the SLVR, but after hearing that the Itunes on it wasn't great I started looking more at the LG. Then I heard LG's dont get great reception and this 3G thing has me confused/worried that my call would drop when switching. So far I haven't heard anything bad about the D807, but I am not sold on a slider phone yet. Sorry for not knowing quite as much as the others. Thanks in advance.

Re: Which Phone Should I Choose?

3G is used for data. If you are going to view live or streaming video, it would be best to get a phone that supports 3g. Good thing, is that Cingular has added 200 text messages to its unlimited internet for $19.99. 1000 text messages with unlimited internet for $29.99.

The SLVR L7 is a good phone, it just depends if the iTunes 100 song limit is going to be a major issue with you. The CU500 and D807 seem to be good phones as well. These 2 are great for using 3g. But in the end it falls down to what you are looking in a phone, and personal experience. Some minor differences between each of them might frustrate you. Some you're going to like.

You listed the ones that are currently available with Cingular, so it seems that you either you are getting a new activation or are eligible for upgrade. If that is the case, you have a 30-day period at time of purchase to change another phone of equal value if you are not satisfied with your current one. One phone that I like is that is the soon-to-be-released W810i. Even the one before it, the W600i, is a good phone. You can do a phone comparison on any cell phone site to research the differences between them.

Re: Which Phone Should I Choose?

Well I would be avaliable for 30-day evaluation...my contract expired so I'm about to upgrade. So from what it sounds like, I will not have any use for the 3G since I won't be paying the extra money. I don't have much interest in data/internet plans yet. I will definitaly check out the W810i. You pretty much answered every questoin I had so thanks there.

Now about the 30-day exchange period....they have to be of equal value? So if I bought the $159.99 SLVR and then wanted to exchange it for a $129.99 D807, would I be able to do that or not?

You can call Cingular and talk to a supervisor to work out a solution if you need to exchange.

Re: Which Phone Should I Choose?

Alright thanks again...ive looked at the W810i a little closer and it might actually be just what I am looking for. If it is reasonably priced and comes out soon enough I will take a serious look at it. I think I have eliminated the CU500 from my options so I guess it will be between the SLVR and W810i. Pretty similar considering I only desire simple MP3 capabilites from the phone, but maybe I will try both out or something. Last thing and I'm done.....Any ideas on how much the W810 will cost with 2 year service agreement? And any idea when it is set to come out? It says Q3 but I don't really know when that is.
