Buying Unlocked phones

Hello All! I have a couple of questions. I accidentally broke my Motorola Razr and I didn't get insurance through Cingular. Can I buy a compatible with Cingular phone or do I have to buy an unlocked phone? Also, can I just take my SIM card out of my broken phone and place it in the new phone and have everything work like normal?

Thanks,
J

You can buy any Cingular Branded phone and it should work fine.

I'm sorry is this sounds stupid, but what is a cell phone doctor? Can I just switch the sim card and go to cingular website to configure it?

Thanks,
J
