ok I was wondering this. could I buy a cingular prepaid phone from like walmart or something and put my sim card from my contract phone in it. You know essentially just buying a new phone cheap. I had a little tiny bit of a mishap with my phone and I dont want to have to pay super outrageous costs from cingular to get it replaced. are the prepaid phones like locked or something from being used as a contract phone. I'm not that phone savy but I know some. thanks ahead of time everyone

Yeah I don't see why not....unless there is something with the phone with like the activation....like would I need to flash it or anything...because then I have to buy cables and stuff like that and it gets pricey lol

ok I did some more research on the internet. Apparently you can do this, but usually if you have a data plan it wont work for some reason. Also you have to make sure that they scan the phone into the system when you buy it....otherwise cingular will detect the phone as being 'Stolen' or something like that and it wont work....just what I found out

don't the ringtones go to the sim and not the phone?
