Does anyone know if Cingular (now "New AT&T" ) is planning to shut down the old AT&T Wireless network (i.e. Blue SIM cards)? My plan including the North America Plan is terrific and I don't want to lose it.

See More: Is Cingular discontinuing old AT&T "Blue" plans?

yes it will be gone by feb of next year. and you are the biggest loser cause the north american plans are the best, no roaming to mexico and canada. but they have to get rid of them due to higher roaming charges and due to being more expensive to keep two networks open.

Can you point me to any authority for your statement that the network will be shut down by February? The North America Package includes calls and free roaming in Canada but not Mexico. Would you recommend I switch to another carrier now or wait till I'm forced to give up my plan?

There's no carrier that would offer that plan anymore. U should of received a few letters from the company to upgrade and in those letters it talks about it shutting down.I work 4 att so I knw it will shut down. U can call customer care but the wnt help. Ur best bet is 2 wait till they turn u off and then switch cause att still has some really good international plans.

I realize that no carrier offers that same plan. What I'm interested in is the best plan to/from Canada. I have never received any letter from Cingular/AT&T regarding migrating or shutting down the network. I called Customer Service last week and they told me there are no plans to Canada. It's something like 69 cents per minute and there is a roaming charge. The best option I can find today is Alltell's North America package, 900 minutes for $79.
