Have used Cingular for about 10 years. Billing problems started when I moved to new area last October. This area has Edge towers. Began contacting Cingular last April and have been told that there is no problem they can identify. Just want to see if anyone has any ideas ????

    Problems:

    1) Have been spending most of my time away from hometown to an area in Northern California. Billings began to double after I relocated. Bills began showing "incoming" calls ranging anywhere from 1 minute to 80 minutes. Cingular explains these calls as calls made to my handset from a phone number that the tower does not recognize. Most of my incoming calls are M2M, beyond that I know who I receive calls from. Recently, I left this area and spent about three weeks in my hometown where my service originated. No unknown "incoming" calls show up on my bill for that period.

    2) I changed my phone number (at Cingular's request) to solve problem #1. The "incoming" calls continued to show up. After changing my phone number, billing showed voicemail retrieval number from three different numbers. One was my actual voicemail number with VM noted, one was in a different area code, and one was the xxx-1699 number. Cingular admits that this is unusual, but after researching, says that it is right.

    3) I have logged all incoming calls and have recently stopped answering all incoming calls and yet continue to be billed for them when I am in the Edge tower area. Calls that I receive do not match what I am billed for.

Looks like I need to send a complaint to FCC and State Attorney General but am wondering what, if anything they can/will do. Cingular customer service is appaling and I can not get anywhere with them. This appears to be a billing issue between towers but no one will admit that. Have been told some pretty amazing stories as to what is wrong here.

thanks for any ideas as to why this is occurring - gypsy

Re: Cingular Billing issues can not resolve

Just reread my post. To clarify, the "incoming" calls I am being billed for are to my own cell number.
