i just got a cell phone and i wanted to be able to download ringtones, get email etc, etc on the phone so i decide to sign up on their website so i will be able to do that. to make a long story short i had to enter my number about 23423429075234752837 times because i kept getting this stupid error saying that my number doesnt exist. im like wth?!!!
i finally get passed that and it tells me they are now going to send my phone a text message with a code and when i get it
just put it in the box and hit enter. its been days and i still have not received the code LOL. im gonna give them a call but it really makes me wonder did i get the right service. im like if im having such a hard time getting a code then what else will i have problems with?

Phone?
What kind of phone did you use? I signed up using my Nokia 3560 with no problem. They sent me the wireless code within like, two or three seconds. Maybe you don't have txt messaging?

Dont get ringtones from Cingular...get them off the ringtone board or something. They cost money from cingular.

NO... it isn't just you! I too felt alone and helpless... until I did a google search on Cingular... and what I learned was shocking.
Well Folks... The Official Study results are in... and it doesn't look very good for Cingular... or AT&T... or Sprint.
These three are at the bottom of the pile for major problems regarding poor coverage/reception, overbilling and general billing errors, REFUSAL to correct billing errors, and overall poor customer service.
I personally became interested in this subject after having a multitude of service and billing problems with Cingular for over two years. These problems eventually led to my receiving a bill for over $3,000... when the bill should have been no more than $300.
Granted, I had experienced this problem with Cingular before... but NEVER on this scale! At first, I thought that a simple phone call would straighten everything out... But it didn't. And that's where the nightmare began. To make a long story short... Cingular ended up basically extorting over $1000 bucks from my family over this situation... and they even damaged my credit in a malicious manner.
For those of you out there that are satisfied with your Cingular service... I'm glad for you, and you should consider yourself VERY lucky because you would not believe how many people on the Internet are complaining about getting ripped-off by Cingular!
Check out the details at my site if you want, and if you have any questions feel free to email me for more info.

Ive had good experieces with Cingular. Ive had service for about 6 uninterrupted years now. Anytime I couldnt pay my bill I could always let them know the date I was going to pay without any penalty or disconnection. And once, I took a look at my bill and asked for an explanation of charges and she noticed on her own that I had been getting charged for something i wasnt supposed to for 2 years and she gave me a credit and a 20% discount every month.

I like to hear an occassional success story ;)
Like I said...

However... what's REALLY got my attention at this point is not just the sheer volume of Cingular customers ex-customers complaining... but ALL the past and present employees that are "spillin' tha beans"
Something is definitely out of whack...

man, everyone has problems with every cellular provider. a lot of verizon customers dont get reception in las vegas, even though it should cover it; sprint's vision service (internet and picture messaging) is to damn slow and does not allow you to download anything not on their sites; cingular has no knowledgeable customer service reps, metro PCS is a piece of sh... and can kiss my , nextel's system cannot locate it's customers when you try to call them...

My hat's off to you! It's obvious that you've done your homework and you have seen the big picture. Yes... ALL providers have their own shortcomings in one area or another... and some have multiple probs in EVERY area (like Cingular!
My intention is to make people aware of which providers are *trying* to do a better job. With Cingular... they have an uncaring, disconnected hardass approach to solving problems, and they BY FAR have more disgruntled customers than any other provider... and that's a fact. Just do a google on Cingular Complaints and you'll see for yourself that this is true.
Also, call the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights and ask them which provider has the most complaints on record... and they'll tell you ... Cingular... and BY FAR
Anyway, that's the thrust of my point. Anyone with a busy schedule that wants as few cell probs as necessary with everyday crap... and you live in the SC area... STAY AWAY from Cingular!
