Cingular sucks so bad. I'm glad I finally switched. Their phone selection is awful and their plans suck. And rollover, I wish I had minutes to roll over. Maybe if my nights didn't start at 10:00 because of a Cingular server glitch that doesn't adjust to daylight savings time. As soon as I found out I could switch and keep my same #, I was gone. I had been with Cingular since it was Cellular One. (Who remembers that)

I agree with you. My cingular contract ends in 2 months and I'm gonna switch over to T-Mobile. I don't get any reception even at my own house.

If I tilt my phone a certain way in my dorm room the reception just cuts out. How cheap is that. Stupid Cingular.

Well, I suppose that it depends on where you are and what you are looking for. I know a lot of people with completely opposite takes on the whoole thing and as soon as they learned they could keep their number, they swithced right over to Cingular. Rollover is not for people who go over their minutes every month, its for people who don't and it gives them the option to keep them. As far as their plans go, I have compared with some other companies and think that they really do give you a good deal for your money. It's all about finding what suits your needs. I am lucky to be in an area well covered by Cingular and have never, in my 4years with them even thought of changing companies.

The Official results are in... and it doesn't look very good for Cingular... or AT&T... or Sprint. These three are at the bottom of the poop pile for major problems regarding poor coverage/reception, overbilling and general billing errors, REFUSAL to correct said errors, and poor customer service.
I personally became interested in this subject after having a multitude of service and billing problems with Cingular for over two years. These problems eventually led to my receiving a bill for over $3,000... when the bill should have been no more than $300.
Granted, I had experienced this problem with Cingular before... but NEVER on this scale! At first, I thought that a simple phone call would straighten everything out... But it didn't. And that's where the nightmare began. To make a long story short... Cingular ended up basically extorting over $1000 bucks from my family over this situation... and they even damaged my credit in a malicious manner.
For those of you out there that are satisfied with your Cingular service... I'm glad for you, and you should consider yourself VERY lucky because you would not believe how many people on the Internet are complaining about Cingular!
Check out the details at my site if you want, and if you have any questions feel free to email me for more info.

Why isn't the FTC, FCC, or Congress looking into regulating this service? It is time, guys! Please do something for those you serve! Does anyone here recall the completly terrible service the phone company used to give decades ago? Congress stepped in with all sorts of regulations, rules, and oversight. Cable went through something similar in the 80s. Any industry that abused the public eventually faced the government regulators - railroads, agriculture, food processors, autos, cable tv, radio to name a few. Check out the link above and click on Cingular. Tell your story and perhaps we can get a class action lawsuit going. If we can't get our Congress to wake up, perhaps we need to look to the courts for assistance. Moreover, since it is an election year, don't expect any inquiry soon - these fat-cat politicians don't want to interrupt the campaign donations from the Cingular corporate suits! Class action now!!!

As for the person who was chaged $3,000...You never tried taking Cingular to court? People are so stupid and don't realize that when they get serious billing errors and customer service refuses to do anything about it, the best thing to do is threaten the people at customer service that if they do not comply with your request then you will have to take them to court. If they still don't comply with your requests, then REALLY take them to court and sue them. Stupid people!

do you really think the operator you are talking to really cares if you take cingular to court or not? and if you ask them for their name, how do you now they are giving you their real name? and if you ask them to transfer your to their manager, what tells you he/she is the real manager?
when you call back to tell them you have the lawyer next to you, and that you talked to the operator named bob and the manager named bill, they will say no one by those names works there, and when you ask for the tape (they record your conversations) they will say they never recorded it because you asked them not to! (you have that right)
so finally, when you take them to court and you win, you end up paying more to your lawer than what cingular says you owe...

Okay then, you can always write to the company president. Whenever my mom has an issue with a company she writes to the president/ceo and they always comply with her request...
Now, as for people saying that the Cingular coverage sucks: the last time I checked, Cingular's coverage was better than AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint PCS (their digital pcs coverage is horrid), and Nextel. Only Verizon offers more coverage than Cingular. And when the merger between Cingular and AT&T is fully completed, Cingular's network coverage area will be one that rivals that of Verizon's.
