I need a good DVD converter to save my DVD video to my computer?

I need a good program that will copy my DVD video to my computer and convert it to WMV or AVI in high quality, with no distortion to the sound or video. No trials, i already have several. I want something to keep.

I've heard good things about Handbrake and I've used DVD shrink.

I think DVD shrink works pretty well. Handbrake seemed to complicated and complex but could create better results if you are willing to play with it.

DVD Ripper software does a great job.

i recommend dvd shrink as a good way to compress you dvd files from a dvd movie or something.

NTI CD & DVD-Maker 7 its a good one.

All these answers are really good I will have to try a few out.

I would suggest trying to use DVDFab. It is a great application I use it to copy DVDs to my pc so I can burn them.

I also use it to rip the video and put it on my ipod it is a very simple application and when ripping the graphic buttons on the left make it very easy to specify the device you will be using the media on either computer, ipod, PSP, Gameboy, zune etc.

The video quality probably does decrease a little for avi format but that has to be expected when you compress something for about 4GB to under 1 GB.

Of all the ripping software I have used this one is the easiest and the best quality.

I use VLC Media Player for pretty much all of my conversion needs. It may be a little confusing for beggings (cos of the amount of formats and whatnot), but there are tons of tutorials you can find with google and youtube.

find dvd ripper, if you are mac user, search dvd ripper for mac. iorgsoft dvd ripper for windows and mac is a decent program.
