Hi I'm new here, something you might be interested in is - how to watch video files on your X Box 360.
I use a program called Super -( from ERightSoft) which is free to download and use, it provides very good results.
I find that WMVs are the most compatable format that play
I recommend using the WMV9 profile (if it prompts for Simple/Main profile - use simple). Try to match the frame rate of the original source file, and don't change the aspect ratio (unless you really want too). - encoding takes longer if you do!
Use a bit-rate that is slightly higher than the original, if you can't work-out the original bit-rate due to different bit-depth values, use something from 960Kbps or higher - this seems to provide good results.
Audio - the higher the bit rate the better but I just go for 128 Kbps and match the sample rate if you can or just go for 44.1K.
Now convert, once complete copy the Wmv to a Usb drive and take it to your
independent stand alone X-box 360 (not been corrupted by that Big Internet or Live)
Your video should play fine, safe in the knowledge that you will never have to plug it in to the Internet - some people like me don't want to.
Fasteddie
