Has anyone been using the Windows 8 beta yet? I want to give it a try but I am afraid to because once you go to Windows 8 you cannot go backwards. What are the advantages?

Re: Windows 8
I haven't used it. I purchased a computer recently and I believe I saw something about getting an upgrade for $14.99, but I don't remember where. I'm happy with Windows 7 so I don't think I'm going to upgrade.
You should be able to create a partition and have two operating systems at one time. I'm not sure if Windows 8 gives you that option or not. You can search on Google and look to see if you can create a separate partition for Windows 8.

Re: Windows 8
From what In understand on the Windows 8 beta website you cannot have a partition. I might be missing something though. I do have a dual boot computer now with Windows 7 and Windows Vista. I wouldn't mind doing this with Windows 8 if it were an option.

Re: Windows 8
I don't know anything about partitions but the thing that makes me hesitant to use Windows 8 is that I have heard different things like there is no start menu. It seems like it might be hard to navigate. I might think about it but I would probably have to play with it first.

Re: Windows 8
I haven't done much research on Windows 8, but I don't think that would be right if they don't allow partitions. I installed Ubuntu and it was very easy to add another partition. If I remember correctly on Windows Vista it was easy also. Maybe people started messing up their computers if they didn't know what they were doing. In that case they should just have two different options, such as "Regular" and "Advanced User".
I saw what Windows 8 looked like a few months ago and I didn't like it either. Windows has been so similar over the years when it comes to the start menu. It might not say "Start" anymore, but it is located in the same area. I understand they might want to change the look a little, but is there a way to go back to the standard Windows look? I think there is a "Classic" option on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Is that an option on Windows 8?

Re: Windows 8
I haven't tried Windows 8 yet, either. I'm still working on a computer with Windows XP. (I know, I know, it's practically ancient now!) How similar are Windows 8 and Vista? My mom's computer has Vista and I absolutely HATE it!!

Re: Windows 8
There are a lot more people using Windows 8 now since it is coming with new computers.
If you've used it, what do you think?

Re: Windows 8
Windows 8 seems fine to me, but I think that I will stick with Windows 7 for now. And about Windows Vista, well how can I say, this is the worst Windows ever.

Re: Windows 8
Not that long ago I signed up to be able to get Windows 8 for $14.99, but I haven't decided if I'm actually going to purchase it. I have the information in my email somewhere. I'm not sure when it expires. I probably should upgrade to have the latest Windows operating system, but I am happy with Windows 7.
