i desperately need some help here.
im using Win XP... my norton antivirus said that my 'explore.exe' (in C:\WINDOWS) was infected with the Trojan.Adclicker virus.
Is 'explore.exe' an important file?....do i have to back it up if i wanna delete it?...i saw some removel instructions in symantec's website where it included deleting registry keys or sumthing... i was wondering if there was an easier way like a program or something. are there any programs which remove specifically the trojan.adclicker? coz i downloaded one or two but they didn't seem to work.

    thanks a lot!

Explorer is necessary for Windows to run...but Norton shouldn't delete it, it should repair it if you ask it to, shouldn't it?

Backup the registry and then follow the instructions on their site. It's easier to mess with the registry than download some program although you have to be much more careful...

<--uses McAfee, so not too familiar w/Norton

Not explorer.exe, explore.exe. I have sent you a description and recovery on the worm you seem to have.

    Re: HELP!!! I've got Trojan.Adclicker

However the post is really old, but I am replying this because of the important concern that still similar type of Trojan infections keep hijacking several more Windows PC. Any user can remove them with the help of proper removal methods suggested only here : - Supprimer Spyware Virus | Protégez votre système contre les menaces dangereuses

    Re: HELP!!! I've got Trojan.Adclicker

I can't delete it. Whenever you browse your HDD or even your desktop is the part of explorer.exe. This is the remarkable feature that is making the difference between a DOS Operating System and Windows (or linax, macingtosh etc) Operating System. The best solution is re-install your operating system with C drive (usually) formatted. Hope this post will help you.
