There is no doubt the connector on the bottom of the iPhone is needing an upgrade. The same iPhone cable connector has been on the various iPhones for years. Someone has now come up with a "bright" idea to make it less of a hassle if used at night. This iPhone cable has a light inside! Those who hook up their iPhone just before going to bed may want to take a look at this cable. It is called, "Cordlite", and is not much more than a regular cable.

If you can imagine having a docking connector light guiding your iPhone connector to the right spot for you, you should take a look at the Cordlite. It is lit up with two LEDs that automatically light up at the right time. How? The end of the connector is touch sensitive, and lights up by capacitive resistance from the human body. No switches are needed and it even saves energy that way. If you really wanted to, the Cordlite could be used as a sort of a flashlight because the two LEDs face forward in the connector.

The end of the connector is made of aluminum to allow the automatic light to operate. This makes it easy to find even in complete darkness. Searching for the connector in the dark and touching it will make it light up, taking care of the darkness problem. Once you have it in hand, the connector also has more indicator lights in it showing which side needs to go up. You could say the Cordlite is "idiot proof".

How much would a cord with these kind of features cost? If you said $100 dollars you are way off. This Cordlite cable is just $25 dollars. That is a very nice price considering a stock OEM cable is around $20 dollars. The bad news is that the price is going to go up shortly. That is conditional, though. The Cordlite is being offered on Kickstarter by a group called "Scrap Pile Labs". They offer the $25 dollar price until if or when they have success on Kickstarter. If they do have success, the price will immediately go up another ten dollars.

The makers of the Cordlite have said that their invention will not affect charging or data speed of the iPhone. It also will not work if the person hooking up the smartphone is wearing gloves. They also promised it will work on the rest of the iProducts as well. The length of the cord on the Cordlite has yet to be decided but it does come in two colors, white or black. It also comes with decorative designs, but only if you order it on Kickstarter.
