This year, T-Mobile is taking a new approach when it comes to showing your sweetheart how much you care for them. This Saturday, T-Mobile will be offering free 4G devices as a Valentine's Day promotion to convince those who want a better phone and more data capabilities to make the switch and to help clear out some of their older inventory.

The cell phone carrier and manufacturer, based in Bellevue, Washington, will be offering this deal on all 4G smartphones and select tablets on February 11th only. What's the catch? Well, you have to agree to a new two-year contract and the phone is only free once you mail in the mail-in rebate and wait for the refund in the form of a pre-paid card.

Nevertheless, this is a great deal for those who have been considering a new phone or a new carrier as it essentially takes the largest up-front part of getting a new cell phone out of the equation. It also will help boost T-Mobile's subscription service, which currently lags behind both Verizon and AT&T. This promotion is aimed at getting individuals interested in new 4G plans, which many people have not been able to enjoy due to having existing contracts with 3G-capable only smartphones. The company also lost many customers during the ill-fated merger with AT&T.

T-Mobile is hoping this promotion will be one event in a series that will serve to rebound the company after suffering in recent months. T-Mobile is supposedly receiving the iPhone 5 when Apple releases it later in the year, which will help the carrier compete more directly with carriers like AT&T and Verizon. In the meantime, T-Mobile plans to continue to tout its 4G network and to gain additional subscribers by making improvements to its existing network and offering an increased number of discounted phones.

The giveaway promotion will help T-Mobile gain valuable subscribers while simultaneously clearing out much of its old inventory, giving them the opportunity to bring in new phones. T-Mobile is aiming to give away upwards of 100,000 phones this Saturday.

Which phones will be included in the line-up on Saturday? For starters, the Samsung Galaxy S2. There will also be choices such as the BlackBerry Bold 9900, the HTC Amaze 4G and the Nokia Lumia 710. The Huawei Springboard tablet will also be available for free.
