As most of you already know, earlier in October Nokia has lifted the veil on its latest smartphone line-up (as well as a tablet), and interestingly enough, the star of the show has been the Lumia 1520. This particular device is quite iconic, not only because it's the first Nokia phablet, but also because it's the first oversized device to run on the Windows Phone platform.

In any case, those of you who are familiar with Nokia's way of doing business in the US have already suspected that the device will first go on sale in these parts via AT&T. That is indeed the case, as the carrier in question has now made the handset official.

Starting with November 15, prospective customers can purchase the Nokia Lumia 1520 from AT&T. In terms of pricing, the handset will be retailed at a lower than expected price. Since the 1520 is a phablet, most gadget enthusiasts have assumed that the on-contract price will be set somewhere at $250 or above. However that's not the case, and the handset can be yours for $199 on a two-year agreement. Off-contract, the Lumia 1520 will set you back $549. The device is being offered in four colors – white, black, red and yellow – and those of you who are interested in the gadget can now place a pre-order on the Microsoft Store.

As to what you can expect from the first Nokia / Windows Phone phablet, the Lumia 1520 seems to be a no-compromise device. The phablet features an IPS LCD 6 inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 367 pixels per inch, a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, an Adreno 330 graphics chip and 2 GB of RAM. The gadget draws its energy from a generous 3,400 mAh battery.

In the media department, the Lumia 1520 delivers an impressive 20 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, a 1/2.5" sensor size and PureView technology. The main camera is being complemented by a 1.2 MP front-facing shooter.

Software-wise, the Lumia 1520 arrives with Windows Phone 8 out of the box, featuring the GDR3 update which allowed the manufacturer to fit a quad-core processor and a full HD screen on the device in the first place.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of differences between the International and the AT&T model, that need to be pointed out. To begin with, the AT&T variant will feature 16 GB of storage instead of 32 GB, but fortunately, the microSD card slot is still there, so users will be able to expand the storage by up to an additional 64 GB. More so, AT&T's variant lacks wireless charging capabilities – a feature that is present on the International model.

All in all, AT&T had to cut a few corners in order to deliver the Lumia 1520 at a good price, but still, the handset remains a really attractive one.

Are any of you planning on buying the Lumia 1520 once it goes on sale in the US? Are you interested in placing a pre-order? Share your thoughts below.
