The Asus Padfone is undeniably one of the most interesting smartphones expected to hit the market in the near future. We know that the Samsung Galaxy S3 pretty much stole the spotlight during the last few weeks or so, but the Padfone is definitely not a handset to be overlooked.

For those who are not so up to date with what the Padfone is all about, long story short, it's a smartphone that can be conveniently placed in a tablet module, which can then be mounted on top of a keyboard dock. In other words, it's a smartphone that can take the form of both a tabled and a notebook. If that's not enough to catch your attention, note that it comes with a stylus pen that can also be used as a headpiece.

Now that we got the brief overview out of the way let's get back to the matter at hand: its release date. Unfortunately the Padfone had to deal with a launch pushback a while ago, mainly due to a Qualcomm chip shortage, but judging by what the Asus Australia Facebook page has recently posted, the Asus Padfone should be quite close to its launch date.

According to Asus the Padfone is expected to hit the Australian market sometime in July. Nothing was said regarding the US launch, but considering the fact that most gadgets are not making their debut in Australia and in fact it's the other way around, I suppose it's pretty safe to assume that the Asus Padfone will get a US launch during the June-July timeslot.

All that remains now is for Asus to spill the beans regarding a more exact US launch date, and then wait for the gadget to hit the market. It will be an interesting month considering the arrival of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3, but the upside is that we have lots of time to decide which of the two smartphones meet our demands best.
