With the fourth quarter closing in, the majority of smartphone manufacturers are gearing up for the launch of a new wave of handsets. Samsung, Sony, HTC and Apple are just a few of the companies that are expected to release a new batch of devices, and it's as if we can feel the anticipation growing by the day.

In any case, the aforementioned big-shot manufacturers are not the only ones to have new gadgets in store for us, and quite recently, Alcatel has unveiled two new devices that will be part of the One Touch Idol line-up. These are the One Touch S and the One Touch Mini.

The One Touch S features a 4.7 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of storage expandable via microSD, an 8 MP main camera and a secondary 1.3 MP sensor on the front panel.

As its name suggests, the One Touch Mini is a more budget-friendly device, and as we all know, budget-friendliness usually goes hand-in-hand with lesser hardware specs. As such, the One Touch Mini features a 4.3 inch LCD display with a resolution of 854 x 480, a dual-core processor running at a frequency of 1.3 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB / 8 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, and a 5 MP main camera complemented by a VGA front-facing shooter.

Both devices will arrive with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, and both will be offered as quad-band GSM models for the world-wide market.

Unfortunately, at this point in time, pricing and availability details are unknown. Nonetheless, given the fact that these devices are not really what we'd normally call "flagships", I'm fairly sure that they'll hit the market sooner rather than later, and without too much fuss.
