The Ice Cream Sandwich roll-out for the Samsung Galaxy S2 has been quite problematic, and come to think of it, most ICS updates have been deployed later than expected. Thankfully however, Android 4 finally arrived on the Galaxy S2 a few months ago before the Galaxy S3 managed to steal the spotlight. Now once again we are turning our attention to the SGS2 and its latest update.

Long story short, the initial ICS update rolled-out some time ago was based on Android version 4.0.3. As it turns out, some Galaxy S2s are now receiving a new update, based on Android 4.0.4. This is the latest Android build currently available, except of course for Jelly Bean that hasn't actually been launched over-the-air to any device just yet.

Unfortunately, the bad news is that at this point in time the latest Android 4.0.4 build for the Galaxy S2 is available only on unlocked Russian handsets.

The update is deployed over-the-air and via Kies software and it appears to have been built on July 5. It doesn't bring many things to the table, but amongst the most notable changes is a new radio firmware.

At this point there's no word from Samsung when exactly will Android 4.0.4 be available in other regions as well, but it's nice to see the Galaxy S2 has not been forgotten no that its successor has hit the market. Furthermore, the guys over at AndroidCentral claim that the current build is also available as an ODIN-flashable version, so in case you want to get this particular update without having to wait for an official launch, there are certain ways to do it.
