Today Samsung has announced two brand new low-end smartphones that will join the rather large "Galaxy" family in the future. The Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame are quite similar in many aspects, they are both budget-friendly gadgets and most of the hardware specs are the same.

That being said, both the Galaxy Young and Fame pack a 1 GHz processor as well as 512 MB, 4 GB of storage expandable via microSD as well as a 1,300 mAh battery. The handsets also arrive with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, as well as the new TouchWiz user interface, and by the sound of it both devices will come in two versions, one of which is going to support dual-SIM, while the other will not.

Similarities aside, there are a handful of differences between these two gadgets, mainly the fact that the Young packs a 3.27 inch display whereas its sibling –the Fame- comes with a 3.5 inch panel. Nonetheless, both displays share the same resolution of 320 x 480.

Besides the dissimilarity in screen size, the Young also arrives with a 3 MP rear-facing camera whereas the Fame packs a slightly better 5 MP shooter. Apart from that the Fame also arrives with NFC so needless to say, from the two the Galaxy Fame is the better equipped and should arrive with a slightly higher price tag.

In terms of design the Young and Fame look quite similar -as you can tell by the picture above- and they both share a few basic design cues with the Samsung Galaxy S3 flagship smartphone, with the main exception that they're smaller and implicitly, less high-end looking.

Last but not least, unfortunately the Korean manufacturer hasn't revealed any concrete details regarding pricing and availability across the globe, but carriers might pick these two up in no time so we're bound to hear more regarding the matter soon enough.
