The very first rumors regarding the Jelly Bean update on the Samsung Galaxy Note have started to hit the blogosphere back in August 2012, even before the Note 2 made its debut. Many months have passed ever since and in the meantime, a ton of leaks regarding the update have circulated on the web, but now we finally get to report something concrete regarding the matter.

In other words, Jelly Bean has been finally released on the original Samsung Galaxy Note. To be more specific, the international variant bearing the model number GT-N7000 is the one to benefit from Android 4.1 for now, but more variants in many other regions should get the update sooner rather than later. If you happen to own the international model and you still haven't received the newer operating system, keep in mind that the update is being deployed in phases. This means that not every unit out there is getting the update notification at once, so in a nutshell you'll have to wait your turn.

As for the update itself, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on the Samsung Galaxy Note brings a ton of new features, including Google Now and Project Butter which should increase performance on the device. Nonetheless, the new TouchWiz Nature user interface that has been ported straight from the Galaxy Note 2 is without shadow of a doubt the most noticeable change brought forth by this particular update.

Other features include Multi Window view (a true multitasking application that allows the user to run two applications simultaneously in a split-screen environment), Page Buddy, a new notification panel that can be customized, Smart Rotation, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Pop-up Play, 2 home screen modes, a new set of widgets pulled from the Samsung Galaxy S3 and you'll also have access to Samsung's Cloud services.

Overall this is a pretty impressive changelog and the OG Note really deserves these new features. After all, the Note has been the first successful "phablet" and as such, the device has pretty much set the foundation for a new mobile market segment. With these new features, the original Note remains a pretty up-to-date device, mainly because the success of a "phablet" is mainly determined by a bevy of applications and productivity tools.

Do any of you own the Galaxy Note? Have you received the update yet? Drop us a line and let us know.
