Great news for Samsung Galaxy S2 owners in the US, at least for those who own T-Mobile's or Virgin's variants, as the carriers in question have recently made the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update available for download on the respective device.
The newer OS is being delivered through Samsung KIES software, most likely because the package is pretty large (T-Mobile's update weighs about 756 MB) and as such, an over-the-air release would be rather difficult. That being said, you'll need to plug your SGS2 to your PC or Mac via the USB cable, and fire up KIES in order to apply the update. You'll find the necessary instructions by hitting the source links below.
As for the update itself and what it brings new to the table, Jelly Bean introduces Google Now, support for offline voice recognition and the update should also increase smoothness and performance on your Galaxy S2 thanks to Project Butter enhancements. Besides Android 4.1-specific improvements and additions, the package will also include a new TouchWiz user interface and a handful of new apps and widgets.
