I have the stupidest question in the world! I should know the answer to this! I have insurance on my sidekick, and i was wondering, if something happend to go wrong with my sk.. and i had to put a claim in, would i get a brand new SK or a refurbed?? im assuming refurbed only because thats how most other companys do it. i could be wrong though, so correct me if i am..

You're probably right, but only the insurance company could tell you for sure. Does T-Mobile use Lockline like most of the other service providers? If it's Lockline insurance then yes, you will get a refurb. Sprint told me the only reason I got a brand new PM-225 instead of a refurb was at the time I filed the claim that model was too new to have any refurbs available.
Sidekick's been out long enough, I'm sure they have the refurbs lining the walls of a factory somewhere, waiting to send out. But what's wrong with refurbished stuff? I've had brand new stuff break on me and refurbished stuff last forever before. But oh, the thought of someone else putting their grubby hands on my dvd player before I ever owned it, I can't bear the thought!

I broke the screen on my sidekick 2 weeks ago and filed a claim. They sent me a brand new sidekick in the box. I asked if I was going to get a redurbished phone and they said the only send refurbished phones on older models.

wow, thats good to know! thanks MD... also, brad, no they dont use Lockline. I just called Tmobile in a Boston store and they said you get brand new. so im pretty excited! Although, this doesnt mean i can go smach my phone lol.. but i can be alot less careful with it. i hardly use it cause i was so scared to even scratch it.

Actually it's the luck of the draw. Even when their refurbished they will often have new cases put on them, and put in shrink wrap or plastic once they have been tested. Then popped into a box with all the goodies, and sometimes just the device itself will be sent out.
The thing to check to see if it's had 0 useage, is to check the life timer on the phone, before you make any calls or send any messages. And even then, that's not 100%, since those timers can be reset by a tech.

This one in fact:

Yeah I got 3 sided tear letter from Asurion and my does say 110 deductible also... better than buying another 299.99 or full retail price again. At least brand new equipment =)

when something happens to ur sk2, did you have to send it back to them to get a new one? i mean like.. if u told em someone stole it or something could u still pay the deductible to get a new one?

Insurance of course is used when it is actually stolen, broken beyond repair or actually lost. So if one of those things did happen to your sidekick and you did have insurance on it, then yes, they would replace it. But you would of course have to be paying for the insurance in the first place, and the insurance would have to be in effect at the time of the lose, the damage, it being stolen.Last edited by BlkBear; 03-19-2006 at 09:26 AM.

In some cases lockline will allow a replacement in-store with a new handset, it depends on the situation.
