I just happened to look at my credit report today, and there was an inquiry
from Cingular in June. I am not a Cingular customer, nor have I recently
applied for Cingular service. Why would they do this? Just curious.

    1. Someone else has your info and wants a phone without paying for it.

    2. You were a customer of Cingular and or a company that sold your name and
you are about to get a offer from Cingular if you credit is good.

    3. Cingular pulled your credit report by mistake checking on someone else
    with the same name.

This is a standard Marketing ploy. banks, department
stores, credit-card companies all engage in it. Sometimes
you may or may not receive a come-on offer. I don't
like seeing them on a credit report. Luck!!

service. Why would they do this? Just curious.
