In other words, you have nothing to offer in rebuttal, and so stoop to
ad hominem, thus conceding the debate. Thanks.

Are you referring to the 28 years of history that includes the Apple
/// and Lisa computers? They've done well, but even they've screwed
the pooch a few times, and their iPod's while pervasive and popular
aren't exactly known for being the most reliable music players
available.
But I trust I've just called your baby 'possibly ugly' and will get
more heat than light in passionate responses.
My only point really was that your attack against John for his
pointing out a fact was pretty silly.

Still, it seems a certainty that the 2nd generation iPhone will add many
of the missing features that have been pointed out by many reviewers.
Most glaring is the lack of HSDPA, the lack of tethering, and the lack
of a memory card slot. It seems as if they are rushing the first
generation out to get a jump on the similar products coming from other
manufacturers such as Samsung. It'd be best to wait for the second
generation.
Verizon passed on the iPhone, and Apple ended up with their second
choice which was Cingular. Was it because of the technical issues that
Verizon passed, or did they just not think that they could make money
with the terms Apple was asking for?

Verizon was actually outbid by Cingular, which is actually the best
option for Apple.

It's because of your powerful imagination.

Picked the Krzr and happy so far! Re: best audio/rf phone for Cingular now?
Thanks to all who replied telling of their experiences. There was
enough reassurance for me to give Motorola another shot--either the
Razr v3xx or the Krazr K1. Phonescoop had strong reviews for both as
well. I picked the Krazr K1 due to its smaller size and by god, I'm
happy so far. I got it at Wal-mart for $120ish with a 1yr contract
extension (beats the crap out the $200 on a 2yr extension that
Cingular.com wanted) and it came with a free 64k SIM that I accepted.
I was able to get the numbers off my old sim with "insert old sim,
copy to phone, swap in new sim, copy phone to sim" trick. All of the
things I freakin hated about the Razr V3 (slow reponse time, goofy 1
letter non-progressive addressbook search, lousy speakerphone, lousy
volume) are absent in the Krazr. The speakerphone rocks. Audio on
the calls I have made so far has been very very clear. I'll wait to
get more calls under my belt before I talk about reception and drop
performance but so far so good on day 1. And, though it wasn't
important to me, I do have to say the ability or a relatively new dad
to have a clear camera and surprisingly good video capture ability on
the phone for gloating is pretty novel.
I was also very happy with the service at Wal Mart. No on-commission
drone trying to add a bunch of crap to my account that I didn't want.
She was well informed, answered the questions I had and had the phone
ready to go with a minimum of fuss.

Todd

Re: Picked the Krzr and happy so far! Re: best audio/rf phone for Cingular now?
I've now got a couple weeks under my belt with the phone, including
roaming in Germany, Austria, and briefly in London and this phone
still kicks ass. Battery life has been superb, and call quality and
speaker phone intelligibility has met my rather anal retentive audio
desires. My favorite phone I've had! The only annoyance I've found
is that the speakerphone does indeed still end the call if you close
the flip (silliness!).
As a bonus, nowhere I went in Bavaria or Austria had me wanting for
signal either.
As much as I expected Motorola to fall on their face based on my prior
Motorola experience on Cingular, I've gotta hand it to em that the
Krazr has the goods. And it's a hell of a deal at Wal Mart for $87 or
$127 with a 2 or 1 year extension respectively.
If yer looking for a phone, give it a look...it's made me a happier
Cingular customer.

Todd
