7610:
------
- In-built support for MP3's (using RealPlayer)
- Megapixel camera
- Better battery life (marginal)
- Changable facsias
- Better screen
- More responsive menus
- Upto 10mins of video recording
6600:
------
[None of the above]
Speaks for itself don't you think?

Re: 7610 or 6600?
I also have this choice to make very shortly .
When you say "In-built support for MP3's (using RealPlayer)" I was told the
phone is unable to produce a stereo output is this incorrect?????.

That is correct. MP3 support is bit of a gimmick. I hope no one buys the
phone expecting it to be a replacement for an IPOD. Stero output wouldn't of
been at all difficult to include. Just Nokia doing it so you have to
"upgrade" next time they release a smart phone with stereo.

pics at 1280*960 are possible on the 6600 with 3rd party software,
i.e. photoacute

according to nokia, 7610 has up to 10 hours more battery life than
6600 but 1 hour less talktime than 6600

nice if you want xpress-on covers

how? 6600 and 7610 both have:
Bright active matrix TFT color display
65,536 colors
176 x 208 pixels
>- More responsive menus
the 6600 is pretty responsive, obviously takes longer than say a
series 40 6230 but its basically running an operating system.
>- Upto 10mins of video recording
with 3rd party software the 6600 is capable of lengthy video clips.
and if you're a user of infrared from time to time the 7610 doesn't
offer this.

"In-built" being the operative phrase here, no extra hassle.

There you go then.

Exactly.

Have you compared one against the other? The 6600's screen is nowhere near
as vibrant/colourful.

Again, comparing one against the other, the 7610 is more responsive and
better at multitasking; where the 6600 regularly crawls with more than one
task running.

Agreed on this, but in this day of BT coming as standard on mid-high range
handsets, it's time to upgrade!
So to summarise - 6600 = hassle with installing extra 3rd party software,
and a slower OS, 7610 = hassle-free functionality out of the box, and more
reliable.

no, i haven't compared these phones side by side, imho the 6600 is
perfect for me.

i've had my 6600 muti-tasking several times, not noticed any
slowdowns. can run services, messaging and calendar and theres not
much delay.

But, sensible keyboard. Proper joystick rather than a cheesy 5 way button.

These arguments could go on forever, so I'm going to be the adult in this
case!
I personally couldn't get on with the 6600's buttons, they're far too stiff
for my liking whereas the 7610's have better travel.

we all have different opinions on how easy a phone is to use.

Re: 7610 or 6600?
Hi both of my friends have these phones and after seeing them and
using them I would say that the 7610 has much better graphics and
sound.

I tend to agree, I just tested a 7610 for a week and have to say the
keypad is utterly **** (for want of a better word), and the joystick
is possibly the worst I have ever used.
The designer of this phone has clearly never heard the word
'ergonomic', which is a great shame as i feel the functionality of the
phone is just about right.
Anyone know if they intend to produce a similarly spec'd model with a
propper keypad anytime soon? I can't decide whether to persevere or
ditch.
Regards
Jay
