It's time for me to upgrade my phone (two years now), and I can't decide
between the LG VX4400 or the Motorola T730. I like the VX4400, but my past
experience with my current LG TM510 is that it has poor to no reception in a
lot of areas where other people are using their cell phones. Would I have
the same problem with the VX4400? Also, does anyone have anything to say,
good or bad, about the Motorola T730?

Re: LG VX4400 vs. Motorola T730

I have no experience with the Motorola T730.
I got my LX4400 just a couple of weeks ago. I'm still learning how to use
some of the functions on it. Haven't tried Get it Now!, yet.
The LX4400 replaced my Motorola v60i, which constantly dropped calls in my
    home in Minneapolis.
While the LX 4400 shows only 1 bar of strength, as did the v60i, I have yet
to have a call dropped in my home.
Calls are clear, and folks on landlines tell me that I'm clear to them.
Very glad that I got the 4400.

Can't speak for the 730 but my friend has a 4400 and he really hates it. On
his 3rd for numerous problems and said he'd much rather have one like mine
(v60i) but he can't read the smaller display. He gets constant drops,
outgoing audio is absolutely the pits when he calls me from it he's mostly
unintelligible. He's given up exchanging them as it's his companies decision
to get them and he really "doesn't care" any more. My sister and BIL have 2
VX10s and they are the same only worse. When I get calls from them I just
ask them to call me later from a real phone. Both products are much much
worse than the LG510 which imho wasn't great.
You have 15 days try them both. The 720/730 issues seem to be mostly vzw
related though. I know a few people who have them with us cellular and like
them alot and have no issues.

Re: LG VX4400 vs. Motorola T730

My VX4400 replaced my Moto T720. The T720 sucked bad, short battery life,
poor color screen, few features and the worst reception I have seen in a
    phone.

I've heard, but not confirmed that the 730 fixes some of these issues, but
is still not up to par.

I like my VX4400, it has yet to drop a call on me, will roam where other
phones will show no service, and is nice and loud. People don't know I am
calling on a cell phone usually, and I live in a fringe area.

One quirk about I dislike, however. The VX 4400 is weak to RF. My
computers at home, and some electrical devices will cause the phone to crash
and reboot if I am to near them (like leaving the phone there within inches
of the devices). My computers at work are shielded and the phone is fine
    around them.

Reception is very good. My wife has a Moto V60i, and while it has better
reception most of the times, it has less quality voice wise and there are
times it will drop to no service and I can roam.

If you want a good cell review site,
    http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=214

    vx 4400 gets 4 stars.

    http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=345

    t730 gets 4 stars.

    http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=102

    t720 gets 3 stars.

Regarding the T720/730 being better through US Cellular, maybe I am missing
something, but I don't see those phones as available on their site or
    phonescoop.com

I still forsee abysmal battery life through any provider, however.

You can also compare features and find that the VX4400 is more bang for your
    buck.

    ------------

Gotta say I really like my 4400.
I returned the Samsung A-310 as it over heated pretty bad.
The 4400 has better reception and sound quality to my ear.

Regarding the battery life, I installed a OEM Verizon extended 1500 Mah
battery (avail on Ebay for app $30!!) This battery's charge lasts much
longer than the standard 950 Mah battery.

There are also non Verizon 1400 Mah batteries for less than $10... but be
warned that you will need to use the car charger as it wont fit in the
standard charger, where the 1500 will fit.

I'm replacing my 4400 with the 730 next week. Maybe I won't like it any
better, but it couldn't be much worse.

I've had better experience with my LG's, including my old dual-mode
LGV111, than with my motorola v60c. my tm-510 was good too. I love the
LG's and I will switch back to them as soon as it is financially
reasonable. My LG's got better reception, voice quality, and had
    simpler menus.

    Emmit1,

I would go with the LG VX 6000 before the Motorola T730. I have had my 6000
for 2 months now and it is the best cell phone I have ever owned. Battery
life is a good as a non-color phone.

What will you do if your car breaks down away from an urban area and realize
that the 6000 has no analog mode (4400 is tri mode)?

I think it will be a while till Verizon gets their all digital system
coverage up to par... at least near me in eastern PA. Analog sure ceme in
handy this past summer in the New Milford CT area.
