I not much of a texter, etc - but I've found it about the same as typing on my old Blackberry Pearl. The biggest problem is occasionally fat-finger and getting the wrong letter, but that was mostly when I first started using it.

on screen typing is a breeze, and super fast, especially after some time spend adjusting.
as for the internet, it's mostly all "true" web sites, and in cases where you default to mobile you can still choose to view normal.

    Re: Typing for emails

I was originally reluctant to get the iPhone because of the onscreen typing. I use it for emails and text a lot. But, it honestly only took me about a day or two to adjust from the blackberry to iPhone.

The thing is that you have to trust the predictive text and not worry if you have typos because they will generally fix themselves. Once you get used to that you can type really very fast.

The other thing that I've found with the predictive text is that it remembers your own typing habits. For example, I have a friend who I call by a nickname. The first two times I tried to type his nickname, the phone wanted to correct it to a word it recognized. But now, if I type the nickname wrong it corrects to the nickname that it used to think was a wrong word. Very cool.

I find it takes some getting use to, but its not so bad once you get used to it
