    Hello Everybody,

I've done an immense amount of research, on the AT&T LG G4011, and it seems that maybe
nobody knows what the term "Restriction Code" actually means for this LG flip phone from 2003.

I recently purchased this phone used for a few reasons, although it was immensely affordable and it was like new; I mean all the manuals and stickers with dates were intact. I had the Verizon variant back in the day. I can access the menu with the original SIM card; however, when I insert my current SIM card it prompts "Restriction Code" with a user input box.

I have a brand new Motorola V70 (2002), from Cingular, and it works perfectly with my standard SIM card. I do use other smartphones, but I mostly swap every few days or weeks with my Palm Pre Plus and iPhone 4S.

Obviously, I don't need this phone unlocked since it's an AT&T phone, I'm in the US, and I have AT&T as a service provider. I called AT&T several times, asked different online forums, paid for an unlocking service, and even contacted LG directly; everything came back negative. LG did inform it was an AT&T thing for the "Restriction Code".

Has anybody owned this AT&T phone and actually have or had AT&T as a service provider with this phone? The funny part is that if you google "AT&T LG G4011", I'm not the only one with this same issue in the US...

    Thanks,
    David

Strange - does the phone actually have the AT&T logo on it? If not, then it may have been the same model offered with a different carrier. Is so, then only AT&T would have the code, which they probably don't have anymore since it's so old. From what I can tell the code would be generated off of the IMEI number, like most 'unlock codes'.

Yes, it's an AT&T branded phone. I actually contacted AT&T several times and they tried to unlock it and they were unsuccessful; they also informed me that my phone didn't exist in their database.

I did have it escalated and I received an email response saying "If the device displays as a branded AT&T Device, please reconfirm the first 15 digits of your IMEI by typing *#06# on your device’s keypad. If the IMEI number listed above does not match, please contact AT&T Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500, provide them the correct IMEI and have a new Device Unlock Case created.".

I'm starting to believe that this phone is lost cause. Lol! It was such an attractive phone and I miss flipping my phone open and flipping it closed, from back in the day...

Yeah, I think at this point it may just be worth getting a newer flip phone. It'll probably have better connectivity anyway.

I do own other flip phones, although I wanted to use the LG G4011, due to the design and nostalgia. It's a pretty rare phone now since there aren't many on eBay...

I didn't realize you were the creator of this site; thanks for replying!

I guess pursuing my ancient flip phone was kind of whimsical...
