just a thought here... in our user CP's we have the option to "show signatures"... maybe (I'll look into it) we can change the forum default to NOT show signatures when someone registers, then explain in the newb email that members can choose to turn them on (or not) depending on their connection speed..
...don't get me wrong... I voted against... I just try to stay open minded (It's that damnable "with great power comes great responsibility" crap ... I'm not bringing this to the alpha dog's attention, but if someone else wants to...

Yea because if you leave it as an option nobody can complain because they can just click the mouse and disable/enable them. Then everybody wins

Acctually, the userbars and stuff dont give 56Kers much hell at all...
www.vgchat.com
www.userbars.net
2 examples, just see if they run slow to other 56kers, same as my :sighs: usual speed 1.7 - 5.4 Kbps... lol
Userbars would be a good adition, they're 350x19 pixels, small, and under 5Kb

IMG tags are just another thing to moderate, I like it when the board odes not suck in all of our time - but runs itself... unless we limit the selection by adding them to the smilie supply?

i have avoided this thread before now, but i do have to somewhat agree with jeannie. it would be kinda nice to have img tags in the sig, but it would also open up a lot of potential for abuse. it would require constant 24 hour supervision, or some sort of submit-for-approval system, and all of that would create a lot of extra work for the mods, who already have their work cut out for them. then there is the issue of image copyrights and questionable material, where does one draw the line on what is acceptable and what isn't?
i say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. the current system works, and changing it could end up being worse off than it was to begin with. why not just put a personal link in, like myspace or something?
well thats just my opinion...

Sounds Fun, I'm a newbie but so my opinion doesn't really matter I guess but it still sounds Fun!!! "All work and no play make Jack a Dull Boy"
