I was just wondering if anybody here knows what this place is, or was. It is one of my hobbies, so if you have any questions feel free to ask away! I love talking about it!

Re: Heritage USA...anyone?
Heritage USA, a Christian theme park, was the Jim Bakker scam back in the eighties.
He was, and rediculously enough, is now again a TV evangelist nut.
Bakker, along with ex-wife Tammy Faye Bakker (the woman with an inch of makeup on her face) sold millions of "time shares" to the trusting sheep that beleived in his born again christian ministry.
The problem was that he didn't own most of the space he sold.
Bakker was convicted of fraud among other things and spent some years in prison.
He's now at it again, duping people out of "love gifts" on a late night TV broadcast out of Branson, Mo.
Apparently he's trying to open up the old Heritage USA again too.

/\ Did you get that from somewhere, or did you write it yourself?
Anyways, their Lifetime Partners weren't timeshares. Whenever he talked about this, he often mentioned that they weren't because people would always assume so. They sold for $1000 a pop and you could come back once a year and stay free for the rest of your life. They were not time-shares. And they didn't just sell them left and right with no room to accomodate. Yes, they did sell them fast but have you seen the things that were built already and what were being built at the time? The 501 room Heritage Grand Hotel and the half-built Grand Tower with another 500 rooms. The reason it was half-built was because stupid Jerry Fallwell destroyed the place when he came in and put PTL into bankrupcty and it was stopped during the middle construction. During his trial, they said he never had built this. They had carpet up to floors 11 and wallpaper to room 13. They caclutated about half of each of the larger hotels for the partners, and then the rest for guest stopping by to enjoy this place. They also did sell these off to camping grounds and cabins throughout the property (and you go to stay longer with this, so it was popular).
He does have a new show since 2003, The Jim Bakker Show, out of Branson, MO in a place called Studio City Cafe which is a neat little set-up.
There are plans for a "new" Heritage USA out there in Branson (NOT the one in Fort Mill, SC) but he isn't the one behind it. He is helping with it, however.
Tammye Faye still lives in Charlotte with her husban Roe Messner. You occasionally can find her out and about shopping and ejoying the city.Last edited by BK1870; 06-13-2006 at 03:23 PM.

I wrote the reply. I followed this charlatan's schemes for a long time.
He's funny to watch actually. Always worth a laugh seeing the latest Jesus flashlight, survival kit, velvet paintings, and other junk that you can get if you call in a love gift now.

I can't stand people that use religion to scam people.
"Please donate money to my organization & I will heal you of you fatal disease!!!! The Lord has given me the power to heal you!"
What a crock!

Re: Heritage USA...anyone?
/\ Now stuff like that gets on my nerves too. Benny Henn is a good example. At least the money that was given to Heritage USA actually went towards something. Hotels, campgrounds, a state-of-the-art waterpark, horse stables, a family center, A castle arcade with go-karts, vintage cars, studios, Upper Room replica, cabins, sporting fields, and so much more. Basically a mini-city that in its hay-days...attracted over 6 million people!
The money Jim & Tammye Faye Bakker made off of their books, singing CD's, and everything else they had with their name on it alone paid for their salary's they received from PTL.
And the Lifetime Partnerships, no matter how much you think they resembled, weren't sold as Time Shares. People had nothing to go back too when it closed down.
Now there is one smaller campground that has a few timeshares in it...but everything else closed.Danger...it's just around the corner~

And let's not forget the air conditioned doghouse, private jet, gold plated plumbing fixtures, 4 million dollar bonus paid to himself, roll royce, etc.
