    ==========================================
    It's not the best, but it's near the best. It has alot of competition from rivals such as Hercules and their XP products. Cheap, and excellent. But for today, the Audigy2 stands out tops on paper, not sure if it can in real. DVD from the Audigy1 compared to the Audigy2 is noticably better, but not with Games, users have reported.

    Soundblaster

    except the soundblaster audigy and live card dont work on winxp and creative dont bother to put out any winxp drivers for them.

    And before you all say they do, I know of lots of people that have bought an audigy or live and are having the same problem win winxp.

    So i'll stick to my ancient soundblaster 128 for now.

    Yamaha do really great but expensive XG soundcards which are supposed to be the best.

    Depending on what you want to use it for, there are some other really good soundcards around.
    If you want to do some pro quality recordings combining audio with midi and have multiple audio outs including digital, have a look at the Event Electronics stuff like the 24 bit Gina. Awesome cards.

    Are yousure you want a sound card?
    Perhaps you want a DAC/ADC multi channel interface - for say making your own 5.1 plus stereo mixes or other semi-pro or professional recording.

    Look at a firewire interface and the MOTU 896!

    I use a SoundBlaster Live! Value. I've had no problems with it.
    I've had XP on this machine and had a few little problems.
    Any ideas on a good non-Creative (soundblaster) sound card?
