HTC to team up with ST-Ericsson to develop its own CPU

HTC and ST-Ericsson is working together to develop its own CPU chip for HTC. This will allow HTC processor chip to run on lower end HTC smartphones.

If you've been keeping up with HTC and their smartphones, they have mainly focused on producing higher end devices. HTC believes that producing its own CPU chip for the lower end HTC smartphones, this may increase their sales for these devices. Qualcomm has powered majority of HTC's smartphones and HTC thinks it's time for a change.

The HTC smartphones, that will run on the new CPU, is said to begin shipping sometime in 2013.
