The Google I/O event has revealed a lot of information regarding what we can expect from the mobile market in the near future. However, undeniably one of the most unexpected appearances on-stage was a Samsung Galaxy S4 dubbed the "Google Edition".

At first glance this handset is pretty much the SGS4 we've all gotten used to already. It delivers the same design as the non-Google Edition S4 in the US, and it should also arrive with the same hardware specs as well. But in terms of software, well that's where things go in a completely different direction.

The SGS4 Google Edition delivers stock Android, so there's no TouchWiz user interface between you and the vanilla Android experience. Evidently, the bootloader is also unlocked and the handset will go on sale as a SIM-free device via the Google Play Store. The gadget supports the same bands on T-Mobile and AT&T as the Nexus 4 does, but in addition it also comes with LTE network compatibility, evidently.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition is expected to go on sale exclusively through the Play Store on June 26th at the price of $650. That being said, the device will benefit from Google's full support in terms of future software updates, so it will pretty much be like you'd own an unlocked Nexus smartphone in that regard, only it's a Samsung Galaxy S4.

Spec-wise the gadget is expected to pack a 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 16 GB of storage expandable by up to 64 GB via microSD, a Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.9 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP camera at the back, 2 MP front-facing camera and a 2,600 mAh battery. Overall, the same hardware components that are found in the US carrier versions of the device.

Is this the Android smartphone of your dreams? A Samsung Galaxy flagship that delivers genuine Android experience and benefits from Google's full support? Sounds pretty good! Would you buy one?
