Some time ago, rumors regarding the
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active have started popping-up on the mobile niche of the blogosphere. This particular device was said to be quite similar in terms of hardware with the Galaxy S4, but the "Active" part was the most interesting one. Rumors and leaks have suggested that this device will be a "rugged" type of smartphone, boasting both dust and water proof capabilities.
However, if you're usually skeptical about rumors, then the pictures above and below should convince you that the device is as real as it can be. What you see is the actual Samsung Galaxy S4 Active which has been recently spotted in Croatia. No official announcement has been made yet, but the gadget seems to be ready for
Prime-time, so it shouldn't take long before Samsung breaks the silence.
As for the handset itself, the Active seems to pack a different design when compared to its S4 sibling. These changes appear to have been made in order to accommodate the handset's dust and water proof capabilities. The Active features a metallic case in red that shows visible bolts on each corner of the back panel, and physical buttons have replaced the capacitive keys.
As far as the handset's internal hardware goes, the SGS4 Active seems to pack a Snapdragon 600 quad-core CPU running at 1.9 GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU and a 5-inch display boasting a full HD resolution (1080 x 1920). Either that, or the handset might pack a slightly smaller than 5-inch panel, as the amount of 480 pixels per inch has suggested.
So far it's pretty much a Galaxy S4 on the inside, but there's at least one aspect that's changed. The Active's camera has 8 MP instead of 13, so that's at least one downgrade from the original model. Hopefully there won't be any others.
Do you have any thoughts concerning the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active? What's your opinion on the design and the leaked hardware specs? Don't hesitate to leave a comment below.
