Turn Battery Saving Mode ON:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery”
  5. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
  3. For more options, go to “Settings”
  4. For GPS options, tap “Location” in the “Settings” menu, then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  6. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks. To do this:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and turn “2G” ON

Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen
  3. For timeout options, first go to “Settings”
  4. Then scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. To reduce timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps’ / accounts’ sync settings to minimize sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account to change its sync settings

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All Apps” is checked in the drop-down menu at the top of the screen
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to turn the app OFF
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” to confirm

NOTE: Another way to remove an application is by opening the apps drawer, and dragging & dropping the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: OS Updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if new updates are available:

  1. First open “Settings”
  2. Then scroll down to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install any available updates (NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceding)
