NOTE: If your phone doesnt work properly, it crashes, freezes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues by master / factory resetting the device.
WARNING! Master resetting a smartphone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory, including apps, contacts, images, ringtones, downloaded content, Visual Voicemail data and so on. All of the phones settings will be returned to factory values.
NOTE: Before you master reset your phone you might want to back up the data stored on the internal memory. Follow this link to learn how you can back up the data. Visit this thread for a full guide on how data can be restored.
Master Reset via Settings:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Swipe to Personal and tap Backup & reset
- Mark or clear the check boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account and if necessary follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Optional: In the Warning window, choose to Erase SD card too
- Tap Reset phone > Erase everything
- Tap OK
Master Reset using Hardware Keys (Recovery):
NOTE: In case you are unable to master reset your phone using the method above, you can try resetting it from the recovery menu. You can access the recovery menu by performing the following steps:
- Turn off your smartphone
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time
- At the LG logo, release and re-hold the Power button
- When Factory data reset appears, release all hardware keys
- Use Volume down to navigate to and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When Erase all user data and restore default settings pops-up, use Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power" to select the option and reset your phone
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: After a fresh factory reset you might want to check for software updates and ensure that your phone is up to date. To do so:
- Tap Apps while on the home screen
- Go to Settings and access the General tab
- Swipe to and tap About phone
- Tap Check now if necessary and if a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
