WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the devices internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, media files, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.
NOTE: Before you reset your phone you can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data. You can also visit this thread for a guide on restoring data on the LG K8.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open the apps drawer
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap General > Backup & reset
- Enable or disable Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- At the WARNING message, choose whether you want to Erase SD card as well
- Tap Reset phone > Next > Delete all
- Tap OK to confirm
Factory Reset Using Hardware Keys:
NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses. To do this:
- First, turn off the phone
- With the device turned off, press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold the Power button (while holding Volume down)
- After a moment, Factory data reset will appear on the screen. Release all buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings prompt, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm and reset the phone
Check for Firmware Updates:
NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, you should check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap General > About phone
- Tap Software info
- Check if a new software version is available, and if necessary follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
