Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all personal information stored within the app, such as login and credit card information, profiles, saved games, high scores etc. will be deleted. As such, to avoid losing data its recommended that you clear only the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap General > Apps
- Swipe to All and select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the apps cache didnt help, tap Clear data > Yes to confirm
Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes problems and prevents you from removing it from your phone, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled. To enter Safe Mode:
- While viewing the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the pop-up window, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in safe mode prompt, tap OK to confirm
- Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, you should see a Safe Mode label in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app from Safe Mode, tap Apps and go to Settings
- Tap General > Apps
- Swipe right to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and tap Power off and restart
Wipe Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, is oftentimes unresponsive or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap General > Storage
- Wait for the device to finish calculating data, and tap Cached data
- Tap Yes to confirm and clear the cache
- Once the process is done, you should see no or a small amount of cached data
