WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be removed, including contacts, ringtones, downloaded content, media files etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before you master reset your phone, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up data on the LG K5. You can also check out this thread for instructions on how to restore data on the same device.

Factory Reset From Settings:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to the “Settings” menu
  3. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
  4. Tap “Backup & Reset” under “Personal”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”. You can also tap “Backup account” and create or sign in with the desired Google backup account
  6. When ready, tap “Factory data reset”
  7. Optionally, choose whether you want to “Erase SD Card” too. WARNING! By enabling this option the reset process will remove all data stored on the SD card
  8. Tap “Reset phone”
  9. Tap “Next” > “Delete all”
  10. Tap “OK” to confirm

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset your device via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

  1. Turn off the phone if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. When the “LG” logo appears, release and quickly re-hold “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” prompt, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Use “Volume down” again to highlight “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
  7. Press “Power”
  8. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes” and press “Power” to confirm
  9. Wait for the device to reset and reboot

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you factory reset your device, it’s recommended to verify if a new software version is available for download. To do this:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. If necessary, tap “Menu” and select “List view’
  4. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
  5. Check if a new update is available and, if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it
