Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: in case one of your third party applications doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the application’s cache or data.

WARNING! By clearing an application’s data you will lose all the personal data stored within the app, such as profiles, saved games, high scores, settings, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing any personal data, try fixing the app by clearing only its cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  4. Under “Phone Management”, tap “Apps”
  5. Access the “Downloaded” or “All” screen
  6. Select the desired application
  7. Tap “Clear cache”
  8. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problem(s), tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (read WARNING above)

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you’ve installed a third party application that causes problems on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app by first rebooting your device in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are turned off.

  1. Wake up the screen, if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” while viewing the home screen
  3. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. When prompted to “Restart in safe mode”, tap “OK” to confirm
  5. After the device finishes restarting, a “Safe mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
  6. To remove an app, first access the “Settings” menu
  7. Next, go to the “General” tab
  8. Tap “Apps” under “Phone management”
  9. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  10. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  11. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and reboot your device as you normally would

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes / crashes often, or if you run out of storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these issues by wiping the cache partition. By doing so as opposed to factory resetting the device, you can avoid losing your data stored on the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
  3. Swipe to “Phone management”
  4. Tap “Storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Clear data” > “Yes” to confirm

NOTE: If you’re still experiencing problems with your device after wiping the cache, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the LG K5 instead.
